Bengaluru, May 13 : The premier Bengaluru-based Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is developing a low-cost oxygen concentrator and anti-Covid vaccine, Karnataka Health Minister K. Sudhakar said on Thursday. IISc researchers are designing a low-cost and efficient oxygen concentrator and developing a vaccine for treating Covid patients, said Sudhakar after a virtual interaction with the state-run institute s Director Govindan Rangarajan.
The institute s prototype oxygen concentrator of 10 litres per minute (LPM) capacity is being tested for clinical validation at the Bangalore Medical College.

With an increasing number of ‘black fungus’ or mucormycosis cases being reported in the State, the Health Department has now asked experts to study the incidences and submit a detailed report.
Health and Medical Education Minister K. Sudhakar said on Wednesday that the State will chalk out modalities on including this complication in the State’s free treatment protocols based on the experts’ report. “I discussed this with members of our Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) on Tuesday and asked them to submit a detailed report within the next two-three days,” he said.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 13 (ANI): Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Thursday interacted with Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Director Prof. Govindan Rangarajan to seek premier science institute s support in tackling the second wave of the COVID-19 across the state.
According to the professor, various researches are being carried out by the scientists at IISc which include designing a more efficient oxygen concentrator and also a vaccine for COVID-19 that can be stored at room temperature upto 30 degree Celsius.
He informed that IISc has developed an oxygen concentrator of 10 LPM capacity which is being tested for its clinical validation at Bangalore Medical College, as per an official release.
