Bangalore Mirror had reported on May 24 that the residents of Alahalli, Anjanapura and environmentalists were unhappy that around 40 saplings of the 5,000 planted by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited through the BBMP’s Lake department had been removed. This was to build a boundary wall around a burial ground near the Alahalli Lake in Anjanapura ward. After Bangalore Mirror’s report titled ‘40+ saplings nipped in the bud at Alahalli’, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) Lakes Department has taken measures to stop the construction of the boundary wall around the burial ground.
