A weekly noontime rally at Lynchburg s Monument Terrace in support of U.S. military troops marks its 1000th straight week this Friday, Jan. 29.
The event will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm and will include speakers, presentations, a House Resolution by State Delegate Wendell Walker, and the reading of the names of the 95 veterans who once stood with the rally on Church Street and have passed on in the nearly 20 years the rally has been held.
Also on display will be a Bedford County Sheriff s Office car wrap of the 14 Soldiers and Marines from the Lynchburg area who died in the War on Terror.

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - News 3 is investigating how online predators are trying to exploit your children as the pandemic continues.
Case after case continues to come into the offices of those who investigate online crimes against children.
âIt s extremely overwhelming,â said Sgt. Stephen Anders with the Bedford County Sheriffâs Office and an assistant commander for the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce. âWe just don t have enough people to work the number of cases that we ve got coming in. We saw a huge, exponential increase once the lockdowns started happening in March.â
