Fuel Scarcity: IPMAN Lauds NNPC For Prompt Intervention, Advises Against Panic Buying

Spread the love (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN) Kano state branch has commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for the prompt measures it has taken to address the fuel scarcity which resurfaced a few days ago.  The IPMAN Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Danmalam, made the commendation on Tuesday in Kano while inaugurating an ad-hoc committee set up to ensure prompt distribution of the commodity. He said the commendation was also necessary following the NNPC order to all its depots across the country to intensify efforts in their operations to end the scarcity which reared its ugly head few days ago.

Marketers threaten to suspend petrol sale in Kwara

Punch Newspapers Sections Tunde Oyekola, Ilorin Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Kwara State chapter said its members would from Friday suspend the sale of fuel to members of the public in the state. The association said its action was informed by the recent unfriendly policy of the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. Addressing reporters in Ilorin, the state capital, NNPC Depot chairman of the association in Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullateef Kamaja, said stakeholders were not duly consulted before the new policy of e-payment was rolled out. He said, “The NNPC also directs marketers to provide some other prerequisites like bulk purchase agreement renewal. The procurement involves high cost and a lot of bureaucratic bottlenecks.”

The Downstream Remote Monitoring System, DRMS, and inventory management solution for petroleum products supply and distribution is designed to provide a holistic view of the downstream value chain in real-time. DPR Director/CEO, Engr. Auwalu Sarki explained at the official launch of DRMS that it would guarantee the availability and reliability of real time data for decision making and planning purposes.
