Energy After the on and off appearance of queues at filling stations across some states of the federation some time ago, it would appear, like a lion that retreated to recharge, the queues may have roared back. The fuel queues have returned. Meanwhile, the controversial subsidy for petroleum motor spirit, popularly called petrol, returned with an almost irredeemable audacity. To be fair to the NNPC Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari, his desperation to ensure Nigerians do not suffer fuel scarcity or another unbearable increase in pump price has caused him to hold on to the subsidy pillar. He insists the queues, this time around, has nothing to do with availability or affordability of petrol, but the tanker drivers’ strike. But we have been here before! NNPC normalises petrol supply in week of Petroleum Tanker Drivers strike

Group Managing Director of SEEPCO, Mr Tony-Chukwueke with Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari at signing of OML 143 Gas Development Deal The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) began its week with the task of normalising the supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at different filling stations in the country especially the FCT following the strike embarked upon by Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) over remuneration. The normalisation started with the corporation increasing the daily supply of petrol across the country from 550 trucks to 1,661 trucks to combat the buildup of fuel queues in some parts of the country. It would be recalled that the intervention of Malam Mele Kyari, NNPC Group Managing Director, led to the suspension of the strike by the PTD for one week.

NNPC pledges to work with stakeholders to ensure sanity in downstream sector On By Obas Esiedesa The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari has pledged to work stakeholders to maintain sanity in the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry. Kyari, according to a statement by the Corporation on Friday, made the pledge during a meeting with the Association of Distributors and Transporters of Petroleum Products, ADITOP, in Abuja. Speaking during the visit the National President of ADITOP, Alhaji Lawal Mohammed, commended the NNPC for its unrelenting efforts to bring sanity into the downstream sector of the oil industry.

Fuel Scarcity: IPMAN Lauds NNPC For Prompt Intervention, Advises Against Panic Buying

Spread the love (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN) Kano state branch has commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for the prompt measures it has taken to address the fuel scarcity which resurfaced a few days ago.  The IPMAN Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Danmalam, made the commendation on Tuesday in Kano while inaugurating an ad-hoc committee set up to ensure prompt distribution of the commodity. He said the commendation was also necessary following the NNPC order to all its depots across the country to intensify efforts in their operations to end the scarcity which reared its ugly head few days ago.
