ESO Representation Office in Chile
The ESO Representation Office in Chile acts on behalf of the ESO Director General in all relevant matters for the Organisation in the country. This includes collaborations with Chilean national and local authorities, and with the diplomatic missions representing ESO State Members in the country.
Among its objectives is the promotion of the collaboration between ESO and the astronomy stakeholders in Chile working towards long-term operational stability and strengthening the cooperative relationship of the Organisation in the country.
The ESO Representation Office in Chile functions as a bridge between the internal divisions of the Organisation and the Chilean society. To achieve this goal, the office works in coordination with the ESO Operations Division, Department of Communications, Office for Science, Legal and Institutional Affairs, and ESO Administration Division.

Nokia and UN Women have together launched four pilot projects to bolster inclusion and diversity for equality.
These pilots aim to address four different areas such as increasing the number of women employees, raising awareness of cervical cancer and uterine fibroids, promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education, and empowering gender-based violence victims.
After the successful execution of the pilots, the two organizations plan to roll these projects out in more countries across the Middle East and Africa region.
The current collaboration follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed recently by Nokia and UN Women, the United Nations entity for gender equality and women’s empowerment, which will guide the global partnership.
