Bethel AME hosts Pfizer vaccine clinic, sees low turnout

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Faith leaders hosted a pop-up clinic at Bethel AME Church Saturday morning in hopes to stop the spread of the virus. Although turnout didn t go exactly as anticipated.
Bethel AME said only 97 people showed up at the clinic after organizers made 600 shots available.
The clinic originally offered Johnson and Johnson doses but the pause on the one-shot vaccine forced the church to switch to Pfizer.
Reverend Brandon Winstead said the group is still planning on holding more pop-up clinics in the future.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â A Tallahassee church is taking action after the CDC recommended a pause on all Johnson and Johnson vaccine distribution.
Bethel AME was planning to host a pop-up J&J clinic at their church this Saturday. The event is in partnership with the Florida Department of Health. Now, they ve pivoted to giving out 600 Pfizer vaccines this weekend. There are still about 300 spots left.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Around 500 people received their second and final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Bethel AME Church on Sunday.
This as vaccine supply is limited across the state, and thousands of seniors in Leon County are still waiting to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.
As they wait others are finally getting their second doses.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â After closing its doors to in-person services in March, Bethel AME Church saw the most people they ve seen in almost a year with seniors lining the lobby waiting for the Pfizer vaccine.
According to the state vaccination report by the health department, Florida has seen over 558,000 vaccinations take place, with 10,604 of those happening in Leon County.
Darryl Jones who is on the board at Bethel AME, says that he s proud of the work the church has been able to accomplish through the vaccine ministry .
