After growing up in Centre County with two parents employed at Penn State, Alvin de Levie graduated from the university in 1973. He went on to earn a degree from Villanova Law School in 1976 and still practices as an attorney today in State College.
With a deep-rooted connection to Penn State and the surrounding community, de Levie feels he is the perfect candidate for one of the three available alumni-elected positions on Penn State’s Board of Trustees. He sat down with Onward State to discuss his platform and the upcoming election.
He pointed toward his upbringing, which heavily featured Penn State and the borough, as an influence on his life.

At a formal naming ceremony held May 12, 1990, in conjunction with spring commencement exercises that year, the college was formally renamed as the Eberly College of Science. It distinguished Penn State as the first public research university in the United States to name its basic science college after a benefactor or philanthropist, according to a survey of institutions belonging to the Association of American Universities.
The generosity of the Eberly family has enabled the college to attract and retain faculty members of worldwide renown, who in turn generate higher levels of funding for research at the cutting edge of their fields and create opportunities for study and research that attract top graduate and undergraduate students. The college boasts four National Medal of Science recipients; 18 members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine; 14 members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; and 60 members of the American Associ

Bognet graduated in 1997 and went on to a career in business and politics, as he ran for a seat in Congress this past fall. He is now one of six candidates running for three available alumni-elected positions on Penn State’s Board of Trustees.

Attending football games since he was 3 years old and making frequent visits back to Happy Valley, Bognet is certainly a lifelong Nittany Lion. He said his relationship with the university makes him a worthy candidate.
