COVID-19 in Pa.: About 49% in Pa. have had at least one shot, nearly 4 million are fully vaccinated Updated Apr 30, 2021; Facebook Share Pennsylvania has now administered COVID-19 vaccines to 49% of the state’s population, the state Health Department said Friday. More than 3.4 million people in Pennsylvania are fully vaccinated, while more than 1.9 million have received one dose of a two-shot vaccine, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The state data doesn’t include the city of Philadelphia, which is managing its own vaccine distribution. In Philadelphia, more than 504,000 people are fully vaccinated and more than 755,000 have received at least one dose, according to the city’s health department.

New COVID-19 cases added Monday

The state added two new virus deaths, none of which occurred in Washington, Greene or Fayette counties. There were 2,638 patients in hospitals with the virus, and 551 of them were in intensive-care units as such hospitalizations continue to increase in the state, the Pennsylvania Health Department reported. Washington County reported 11 new cases of the virus, taking its cumulative total to 16,348. Greene added one new case to its total that reached 3,082. Fayette saw six new cases, bringing its total to 12,018.

Tom Wolf’s office said Tuesday. Across Pennsylvania, 55 of the state’s 67 counties are showing high transmission of the coronavirus, according to the Wolf administration. Last week, 50 counties showed substantial spread of the coronavirus. The positive test rate for COVID-19 rose to 9.6% for the week of April 9-15, a slight increase from 9.5% the previous week. The positive test rate has now risen for five consecutive weeks, although the rate has only increased by a tenth of a percentage point in each of the past two weeks.
