Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction began Jan. 18 to enhance travel and safety on Route 320 (South Gulph Road) by shifting the roadway alignment away from the historic Hanging Rock between Upper Gulph Road and Arden Road in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.
Construction crews will be performing several tasks on Rt. 320, including rebuilding the cantilevered structure that carries the road over Gulph Creek; raising the profile of South Gulph Road to meet the requirements for the 100-year flood elevation; and improving the intersection of PA Rt. 320 and Upper Gulph Road by adding a southbound right-turn lane on South Gulph Road.
All Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) driver license and photo centers will be closed Saturday, Jan. 16, through Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

SOUTH AVIS A rail freight improvment project in Clinton County is among 26 projects that will enhance freight mobility while creating or sustaining more than 200 jobs across Pennsylvania.
The announcement was made Tuesday by Governor Tom Wolf.
The state will provide $391,461 to South Avis Realty Inc. to replace ties and raise, line, and surface its industrial park tracks in Pine Creek Township.
“Investing in our states rail system creates jobs and supports efficient freight travel,” said Gov. Wolf. “These investments help us build a world-class infrastructure system and support the business community.”
The State Transportation Commission voted to approve $31.3 million for the projects through the Rail Transportation Assistance Program (RTAP) and the Rail Freight Assistance Program (RFAP).

LIMERICK TOWNSHIP, PA Paving, patching, and other improvements will close lanes on U.S. 422 next week in Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove townships. U.S. 422 motorists will encounter a lane closure in both directions next week between Park Road and Township Line Road and at the Limerick and Sanatoga interchanges.
A construction project will rehabilitate pavement and repair seven structures along a five-mile section of U.S. 422 between the Royersford/Trappe and Sanatoga interchanges in Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove townships, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
UPPER MERION The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that construction will begin on Monday, January 18, to enhance travel and safety on Route 320 (South Gulph Road) by shifting the roadway alignment away from the historic Hanging Rock between Upper Gulph Road and Arden Road in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.
Beginning Monday, January 18, through November 2021, Route 320 (South Gulph Road) will be closed between Arden Road and Upper Gulph Road. During the 24/7 closure, northbound Route 320 (South Gulph Road) motorists will be directed to use Matsonford Road, Interstate 76 West to the Route 320/Gulph Mills Interchange and Balligomingo Road. Southbound Route 320 (South Gulph Road) motorists will be detoured over I-76 East to the Conshohocken Interchange to Matsonford Road and Old Gulph Road.
