Which vehicle restrictions are in effect in Pa. during the storm? Read this before you leave.

State officials are asking residents to avoid unnecessary travel during Thursday’s snow storm, but if you have to head out, there are vehicle restrictions on many of the Lehigh Valley’s major highways.
The heaviest precipitation was forecasted for mid-morning to mid-afternoon Thursday, with most calling for between 4 and 8 inches of snow.
While major roads were plowed or salted Thursday morning, by the 11 a.m. visibility was bad and many were snow covered.
Multiple crashes were reported in the early morning on I-476 and Route 422, including a multi-vehicle crash at about 8:19 a.m. on Route 422 at Penn Avenue in the Reading area.

As of Tuesday morning, the following restrictions are still in place in the Lehigh Valley:
Interstate 80, from Interstate 81 to Route 33
Interstate 84
Roads with
Interstate 80, between Route 33 and the New Jersey state line in Monroe County
Route 22 in Lehigh and Northampton counties
Route 33 in Monroe and Northampton counties
Interstate 81, from Interstate 80 to the New Jersey border
Interstate 476, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension, from the Lehigh Valley Interchange to exit 131 Clarks Summit/ Interstate 81.
Under Tier 1 restrictions, the following vehicles are not permitted on affected roadways:

PennDOT, Pa. Turnpike issue new vehicle restrictions due to winter storm

As Gov. Tom Wolf urges people not to travel during the winter storm piling up snow around the state, PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike announced new restrictions on roads and highways set to go into effect at 9 a.m. Monday.
Crashes were reported Sunday night on Interstate 78, and Routes 22 and 309. Collisions Sunday led to hours-long closures on a portion of Interstate 80 East between exits 242 and 256, and Interstate 81 North between exits 141 and 145.
Wolf is urging drivers to avoid unnecessary travel and encouraging employers to offer telework options if possible, as winter weather conditions are expected to worsen Monday.
