Pennsylvania Acting Health Secretary Alison Beam says today is a key day in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. All Pennsylvanians 16 and older will be eligible to schedule a vaccine appointment, Beam says. That s almost a week sooner than the previously scheduled date of Monday, April 19th. The state hopes moving the eligibility date ahead will help it get to its goal of getting 80-percent of eligible adults vaccinated faster.
Pennsylvania is sending mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinics to minority communities. The state is partnering with the Latino Connection and Highmark Blue Shield. Officials say in order to solve health care inequality and reach our vulnerable and underserved communities, we need to meet people where they are. THE ISSUE
Gov. Tom Wolf reported Friday that Pennsylvania ranked 13th in the nation in first doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered; 32.4% of Pennsylvanians had received at least one dose; 1.92 million Pennsylvanians were fully vaccinated; more than 5.4 million vaccines had been administered; and more than 1.6 million seniors had received at least one dose.

The nation had, by Thursday, âadministered 20 million shots in seven days,â President Joe Biden said Friday.
And Pennsylvania is climbing the state rankings for vaccines administered, which is both amazing and surprising, given the commonwealthâs slow and rocky start in the race to vaccinate.

The wait for the COVID-19 vaccines is soon coming to an end, state officials say.
Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration has accelerated the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines. Starting April 19, everyone over the age of 16 will be eligible for the vaccines. Pennsylvania Acting Health Secretary Alison Beam announced the new timetable earlier this week.
With the changes, some key front-line workers can start scheduling appointments now or in the coming days. And even if you’re not eligible for a vaccine yet, there are steps you can take to help get an appointment down the road.
