Boy, 10, killed in Edwardsville shooting

A 10-year-old boy was killed in a shooting at an Edwardsville home on Wednesday night, according to the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office. The child, who was not identified, was shot at a home on Tobin Lane shortly before 9:30 p.m. and was rushed to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy Dr. Gary Ross conducted Thursday determined the boy died of a single gunshot wound. The manner of death was pending further investigation. Authorities said they are working to determine whether the shooting was the result of an accidental discharge. Edwardsville police and the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the shooting, with assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Services Unit.

Police: 3 killed in Plains Twp murder-suicide

A dispute about snow removal turned deadly in Plains Twp. on Monday morning when a man shot a neighboring couple dead in the street before taking his own life, according to authorities. The shooting took place on West Bergh Street in the Hudson section around 9:20 a.m. Monday as a winter storm was in the midst of dropping an anticipated foot or more of snow on the Wyoming Valley. The victims, James Goy, 50, and his wife Lisa Goy, 48, were outside their home at 13 W. Bergh St. shoveling snow when neighbor Jeffrey Spaide, 47, of 6 W. Bergh St., came outside with a pistol and opened fire, killing them both, police said.
