Penn State wrestling put on an absolute show at the Bryce Jordan Center Saturday night by sending four wrestlers to the Big Ten Championships Finals. The Nittany Lions went 13-2 in Saturday night’s session and qualified nine wrestlers for the NCAA Championships.
Roman Bravo-Young, Nick Lee, Carter Starocci, and Aaron Brooks will all wrestle in the Big Ten finals Sunday.
Penn State narrowed the margin between it and Iowa with strong performances Saturday night. Cael Sanderson’s squad sits in second place with 111.5 points behind the Hawkeyes (126.5).
How It Happened
No. 1 Roman Bravo-Young got Saturday night’s session started in his semifinal bout against No. 4 Chris Cannon of Northwestern at 133 pounds. Bravo-Young wasted no time getting to work, scoring two takedowns in the first period and over a minute of riding time. Cannon earned an escape point in the second period, and the score was 4-3 heading in favor of Bravo-Young heading into the third.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. John Poznanski can still make Rutgers history. He will just need to do it on the other side of the bracket.
Penn State’s Aaron Brooks was just too much. The reigning conference champion rode four takedowns to a 10-2 major decision over Poznanski in the 184-pound semifinal round of the Big Ten Championships on Saturday night.
Poznanski now falls into Sunday’s consolation semifinals at the Bryce Jordan Center; he can finish as high as third place but no lower than sixth. Poznanski was trying to become Rutgers’ first freshman Big Ten finalist. Now the goal is to secure the best finish by a rookie at the conference tournament in program history.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Sebastian Rivera pulled through a hellacious scramble at the end of regulation, but Nick Lee finished the second time around in sudden victory.
Lee advanced to his second straight 141-pound final for Penn State with a wild 8-6 win in sudden victory over Rutgers’ Rivera, a two-time conference champion, in the semifinal round of the Big Ten Championships on Saturday night at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Lee will meet Iowa’s Jaydin Eierman in Sunday’s final. Rivera, who won his conference titles at Northwestern and was bidding to become the Scarlet Knights’ third finalist in history, now falls into the consolation bracket. He can finish as high as third place and no lower than sixth.
