With immunizations now underway, those who are most vulnerable to severe illness have one more layer of protection that will get stronger as each new person gets immunized,” said Provincial Health Officer Doctor Bonnie Henry.

From Dec. 11 to 12, we had 698 new cases. From Dec. 12 to 13, we had 689 new cases and in the last 24 hours, we have had a further 759 new cases. This represents 2,146 new cases of COVID-19, including 16 epi-linked cases, for a total of 42,943 cases in British Columbia.

The total includes 698 cases from Friday to Saturday, 689 from Saturday to Sunday and 759 from Sunday to Monday for a grand total of 42,943. Interior Health has 250 new cases, with 300 in Vancouver Coastal, 1,474 in Fraser Health, 29 in Island Health, 91 in Northern Health and two cases to people who live outside Canada. Of the 49 deaths, 28 were in the Fraser region, 18 in Vancouver Coastal and three in Northern Health, raising the overall total to 647.

All identified cases are required to self-isolate and public health continues to follow-up directly with their close contacts with guidance and support, Interior Health said in a press release. Large households and social gatherings appear to be responsible for much of the COVID-19 transmission related to this cluster. This highlights the importance of limiting social activities and following COVID-19 protocols when indoors. Everyone in the Big White community is reminded to avoid social gatherings and that socialization must be limited to immediate household bubbles.

December 14, 2020 - 1:39 PM Two staff members at Big White Ski Resort have tested positive for COVID-19 prompting Interior Health to travel to the resort to conduct widespread testing. Big White Ski Resort senior vice president Michael Ballingall told iNFOnews.ca Interior Health staff began testing Dec. 11 and came back today, Dec. 14. As many staff on the mountain don t have vehicles and there is no public transport, Interior Health had to travel to the mountain to conduct testing. Ballingall said the COVID transmission appears to have taken place about two weeks ago, and came about after staff gathered for a party and did not play be the rules.
