The use of private vehicles on Sundays has been restricted in Metropolitan Lima and Callao starting today, as stipulated by the Government, as both areas have been categorized in the high alert level of COVID-19 risk. In previous remarks, Peru s Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez noted that when private cars are used on Sundays, more people move around to visit their relatives, meet with friends, and go shopping.  If more people go to the malls, where capacity is limited, that is where crowds begin to form. The fewer people on the street, the less possibility of infecting others or contracting the disease, she explained.
