Mayoral hopeful Andrew Yang slams movement to defund NYPD in wake of Times Square shooting Shant Shahrigian
Mayoral candidate Andrew Yang came out swinging against the movement to defund police on Sunday in the wake of a shocking shooting in Times Square.
Two women and a 4-year-old girl were struck by stray bullets fired on Saturday afternoon after an argument escalated among several men also at the popular tourist destination.
“New York City cannot afford to defund the police,” Yang said near the scene of the shooting. “When I talk to New Yorkers, I get a very different message every single day.”
