RDAs to be converted to digital banking SAPM says govt trying to discourage overseas Pakistanis from using hundi/hawala KARACHI: The Roshan Digital Accounts will ultimately be converted to digital banking, said Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Sayed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari. In a meeting with Corporate Pakistan Group (CPG) Founder Azfar Ahsan on Monday, he discussed the problem of hundi and said that government was trying to discourage overseas Pakistanis from using illegal means to transfer money to Pakistan. “To achieve that, we have to match the ease of transfer and we are working on it,” he said. “With Roshan Digital Accounts, we are making efforts to introduce different incentives to curb indirect means of transferring money to Pakistan.”

Roshan Digital Accounts Will be Converted to Digital Banking: Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari Roshan Digital Accounts (RDA) will eventually be converted into digital banking, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Overseas Pakistanis, Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari, has revealed. While addressing an online session held by Corporate Pakistan Group (CPG), titled “The Way Forward for Pakistan,” Bukhari said that the Federal Government is working to introduce several incentives under RDA to ensure overseas Pakistanis do not remit money through illicit channels. ALSO READ The government is also making efforts to sensitize overseas Pakistanis against the economic instability caused by remitting money through illegal ways such as Hundi and Hawala. However, to achieve this goal, the government must provide overseas Pakistanis the ease of transferring money back to their homeland.

While talking at a webinar, convened by the CPG Dialogue platform on ‘Pakistan at the Crossroads’, along with Muhammad Azfar Ahsan, founder of Corporate Pakistan Group (CPG) and Nutshell Group, the federal minister said, “When the first wave struck, we were totally unprepared and could not locally make any of the required apparatus, but in the past two years we have learned a lot and prepared ourselves, so we are tackling the situation even though we are facing the highest percentage of the positivity rate and that is 11 percent.”
