DEBSWANA SCOOPS TWO IABC GOLD QUILL AWARDS | The Patriot On Sunday

Debswana is thrilled to announce that through the Corporate Affairs Department we have been, yet again, recognised by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) with two Gold Quill Awards. This follows our successful submission of two entries on the Jwaneng Mine Triple Zero Safety Campaign which won an Excellence Award, and the Debswana COVID-19 Communication Response Plan which won a Merit Award. The Triple Zero Relay campaign started in April 2018 with the aim of running until December 2021, in line with our vision of ABSOLUTE ZERO HARM. The Triple Zero campaign is aligned to the Debswana Value of  “Put Safety First”  and the main aim of the campaign was to drive a collective application of individual effort to achieve a shared objective. It also aimed to improve the level of commitment, morale and positive attitude amongst employees in order to jointly work towards a safe working environment.

Zambia : KCM Welcomes Bloomberg News Retraction of a misleading story about the shutdown

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) plc has said that it has acknowledged a retraction by Bloomberg News over a misleading story the news organization published on 5th May 2021 in which it said KCM operations at the Konkola Deep mine had been shut down. Bloomberg has published a retraction and also written to KCM informing the Company that Bloomberg News had determined that the news article published on 5th May did not meet its editorial standards and subsequently offered an apology to KCM for the misleading article. According to a statement issued to the media by Shapi Shachinda, the General Manager Corporate Affairs, KCM said that in view of the Bloomberg News apology, the company seeks to counsel journalists and media organizations to be factual in their reporting and always seek to clarify matters about the Company to ensure balanced and professional reporting.

Take Civic Education Seriously - NCCE Chairperson Urges Ghanaians

  The Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Ms Josephine Nkrumah, has urged Ghanaians to take civic education seriously and make the 1992 Constitution a working document in their everyday life. For her, making the constitution an everyday reference document would help Ghanaians to know their rights and responsibilities as well as to demand accountability from the government and duty bearers. Courtesy call Ms Nkrumah said this when she paid a courtesy call on the Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Kobby Asmah, last Friday, in Accra. The visit was to enable her to share with the paper, activities outlined for the celebration of this year’s Constitution Week and to solicit support for the national exercise, which started on April 28.

N4 road to be closed for two days on May 8-9

705 Sections of the N4 road will be closed down for two days from Saturday, May 8, to Sunday, May 9, 2021, to enable the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) string transmission line conductors along the Tetteh Quarshie - Madina - Adentan stretch. The Ghana Highways Authority in a statement yesterday advised motorists/commuters to follow the traffic diversion signs that will be placed on sections of the N4 at Okponglo, near the McDan Group Offices, La-Bawaleshi and East Legon. The road will be closed between 8 am and 12 noon daily. “The Ministry of Roads and Highways through the Ghana Highway Authority wishes to inform the public and all road users that some sections of the N4 (Tetteh Quarshie-Koforidua) will experience some minimum to maximum disruptions to traffic flow from Saturday, May 8 to Sunday, May 9th, 2021, between the hours 8 am-12 noon daily.
