Congresswoman alleges lawmakers gave reconnaissance tours to Capitol mob

Don t show me this message again✕ A New Jerseycongresswoman has alleged that certain unnamed lawmakers aided pro-Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol by providing “reconnaissance” tours to members of the mob ahead of 6 January. Democratic Representative Mikie Sherrill made the claims during a Facebook live video on Tuesday during which she expressed intention to hold president Donald Trump to account for the riot. During the video Rep Sherrill alleged that she witnessed “members of Congress who had groups coming through the Capitol that I saw on 5 January– a reconnaissance for the next day.” Rep Sherrill said she intended to “see that the president is removed and never runs for office again and doesn’t have access to classified material.”

For Washingtonians, the complex is an office, a place to renew a credential or visit with out-of-town guests, to appreciate Frederick Law Olmsted’s landscaping, or rest on cool, soft grass of the West Lawn. More often than not, it’s a place we pass without entering when cutting from one side of the Hill to the other. Occasionally on one of those shortcuts, a Capitol Police officer might stop you for reasons unknown and advise you to walk around, further removing you from the halls of power.

The Hill s Morning Report - How many Republicans will vote for Trump s impeachment?

How many others will follow? The names will undoubtedly emerge from among the more than 60 House Republicans who did not join their conservative colleagues in efforts to overturn the electoral results in Arizona and Pennsylvania last week. There could be more than 10 House Republicans who are ready to buck the president today, according to sources. Recall that no House Republican voted for Trump s impeachment last year.   The president on Tuesday dug in, offering no contrition and seemingly confident that his perspective would prevail.     The impeachment hoax is the continuation of the greatest and most vicious witch hunt in the history of our country and is causing tremendous anger and division and pain, far greater than most people will ever understand, which is very dangerous for the USA, especially at this very tender time, Trump said during a visit to a section of border wall.
