Adam Gaudette Is Overcoming a Tough 2021, Finding New Life and Opportunity with the Blackhawks

When Adam Gaudette joined the Chicago Blackhawks at he NHL Trade Deadline, the sense was that he had a higher offensive upside than Matthew Highmore and room to grow his game, whereas Highmore had pretty much topped-out what he could be at the NHL level. He was coming off the NHL’s COVID protocol list as the Vancouver Canucks dealt with the biggest outbreak any team in the league had seen this season. Rumors swirled around the Canucks that Gaudette was “patient zero” for the P.1 variant outbreak and that is what led to him being traded to the Blackhawks.

Jurden, Green, Long, Ouellette, Lister collect major honors at TLU Athletics Awards Program

-Tim Clark, TLU Sports Information (Seguin) – Softball players Kelly Jurden and Skylar Ouellette, Men’s Soccer striker Luis Green and defender Mitchell Long, and Men’s Basketball forward Caleb Lister each picked up major awards Wednesday evening at the 2021 Texas Lutheran Athletics Awards Program. Jurden, the Bulldogs’ redshirt junior outfielder, was named the TLU Female Student-Athlete of the Year and the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and redshirt junior outfielder Skylar Ouellette was named the TLU Female Sportsmanship Award winner. Green, the junior All-American for TLU Men’s Soccer, was named the TLU Male Student-Athlete of the Year; and Long, a senior defender, was named the TLU Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Lister, a senior for the Bulldogs, was named the Male Sportsmanship Award winner.

Orlando Magic Sign Free Agent Center Moritz Wagner

ORLANDO The Orlando Magic have signed free agent center Moritz Wagner (MORE-rhetz VOG-ner) for the remainder of the regular season, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed. In addition, forward Robert Franks has been released from his 10-day contract. Wagner (6’11”, 245, 4/26/97) played in 34 games this season (14 starts) with both Washington and Boston, averaging 5.6 ppg., 2.7 rpg. and 1.1 apg. in 12.8 minpg. He appeared in 25 games (13 starts) with the Wizards, averaging 7.1 ppg., 2.9 rpg. and 1.3 apg. in 15.0 minpg. Wagner was traded to Boston as part of a three-team deal on Mar. 25. He played in nine games (one start) with the Celtics, averaging 1.2 ppg. and 2.1 rpg. in 6.8 minpg. Wagner was waived by Boston on Apr. 16.

The Lady Wildcats did snow angels in the confetti Saturday night, defeating Texas 3-1 in the Big Game. Though Kentucky received an all-out effort from their veteran squad, the Wildcats’ did indeed have a player that stood out above everyone else across the country.
