LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced the nominations for the PCB Awards 2020, the results of which will be announced on the PCB digital platforms on Friday (today).
The shortlists for 12 categories, including 10 individual categories, have been finalised by an independent panel comprising highly respected and distinguished cricket personalities. In short-listing the nominees, the independent jury did not limit itself to just player performances, but also took into account various other factors, such as the opponent, impact, value and contribution of the players in the matches and/or during the period under consideration.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday announced the winners of PCB Awards 2020 and all-formats captain Babar Azam has been named the ‘Most Valuable Player of the Year.’
The 26-year-old was given the most prestigious award for his stellar performances across all formats during the 2020 calendar year. In addition to that, Babar was also named the ‘White-ball Cricketer of the Year’ for averaging 110.5 in the One Day Internationals and 55.2 in T20Is.
“I am truly humbled to have been awarded with the White-ball and Most Valuable Cricketer of the Year awards by the independent jury in what has been a difficult year for all professional athletes,” Babar said.

As expected, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, racked up multiple awards. However, a few surprise selections were also made. Twelve award categories were announced by the PCB after careful consideration by the highly respected and distinguished cricket personalities.
Babar Azam, veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez, and pacer Shaheen Afridi were included in three categories each. Whereas Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, Shan Masood, and Naseem Shah were included in two categories each.
Men’s Emerging International Cricketer
Naseem Shah’s meteoric rise in international cricket and his exceptional performances with the red ball were rewarded as he won the Men’s Emerging International Cricketer of the Year Award. Naseem took 12 wickets in five Test matches.

Lahore, Jan 1 : Pakistan captain Babar Azam has been named the Most Valuable Cricketer of the Year in the Pakistan Cricket Board s (PCB) Awards 2020, the board said in a statement on Friday. Azam, 26, was in stellar form in 2020, averaging 110.5 and 55.2 in the ODIs and T20Is respectively.
Azam played only four Test matches in which he scored 338 runs at an average of 67.6.
