With his team trailing by seven points in the final minute against the Golden State Warriors on Monday night, Jamal Murray watched as Steph Curry hoisted a 28-foot stepback three-pointer that found the back rim.
Perhaps it was the fact that just five seconds remained on the shot clock.Maybe that was the reason Curry opted to heave the shot rather than whip the ball to Draymond Green, who was 12 feet to his left. Or maybe Curry, who scored 53 points on the night, realized that his 18th three-point shot of the night had a good chance of sealing the game, defenders be damned. After all, Facundo Campazzo, Will Barton and many of their teammates had already been resolved to bystanders on a number of occasions. Curry had, after all, connected on 10 threes already.

It all started when Don Nelson, then-Warriors Head Coach, scouted the guard when Davidson played St. Marys during the 2008-09 season. Lo-and-behold, Curry went from seventh overall by the Warriors in the 2009 NBA Draft to the franchise’s all-time scoring leader.
“To know where it started out and all that s happened over the course of the career, obviously got a lot more to do, but that is a pretty significant milestone,” Curry said of his accomplishment on April 4.
“Significant” may be an understatement.

After a season-high five-game losing streak sent the Spurs spiraling below .500 for the first time since January, San Antonio notched a much-needed dub as they upset the Mavericks behind a last-second go-ahead bucket from DeMar DeRozan. And with the good guys immediately hitting the road for a SEGABABA with the Magic, they won’t have much time to celebrate the end of their recent skid.
Luckily for the Silver and Black, they won’t be the only ones with weary legs as Orlando also participated in a tough tilt with the Milwaukee Bucks less than 24 hours ago. Not only will coach Popovich and crew have the luxury of playing an NBA bottom feeder, but they’ll have the benefit of taking them on while they’re at less than full strength, which should give them a prime opportunity to build some momentum.
