VIDEO (UPDATE): A semi-trailer truck that kept going after a motorcyclist from Elmwood Park was killed on Route 17 is seen in a brief surveillance video clip released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. The maroon or red semi-trailer truck slowed down to a stop in the right lane of Route 17 South due to traffic ahead around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
Motorcyclist Mario Andres Uran Gaviria, 41, couldn t stop in time and hit the bobtail truck from behind in front of Allied Carpet, the prosecutor said.
Gaviria, previously of Montgomery Village, MD, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:35 p.m., Musella said.

An accountant from Teaneck embezzled $1.2 million from a Wood-Ridge company that makes classroom furniture, authorities said following his arrest Thursday.
Manuel “Mendy” Goldring, 27, worked as a comptroller for Academia Furniture when he stole the money from checks, PayPal transfers and Amazon purchases, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
Goldring, who lives in the Teaneck Gardens garden apartment complex, reportedly worked for Academia from Oct. 2015 to February 2020 before returning to accounting.
Musella’s detectives charged him money laundering, theft, impersonation, false swearing and computer-related crimes.
They sent him to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday arrested Augusto G. Perez, 70, of North Bergen, and charged him with the murder of Omar Cruz, 64, of Albany, New York,
in the parking lot of the Bergen Town Center, a spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed.
Along with Perez, Jorge Sanchez-Valdez, 48, of Guttenberg, was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension in connection with the slaying, the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed.
