View Comments The crash that shut down a portion of Route 17 south in Hackensack early Saturday morning was fatal, a spokeswoman for the Bergen County Prosecutor s Office said.  All the southbound lanes north of Summit Avenue were reopened after several hours , according to 511NJ.org. Hackensack police directed inquiries to the Lodi Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor s Office. Lodi Police directed inquiries to the Bergen County Sheriff s Office. ICE detainees, officers involved in melee at N.J. jail, officials say Updated 10:05 PM; Two officers were hurt in a melee with federal immigration detainees at the Bergen County Jail, a county sheriff’s office spokeswoman said Tuesday. The confrontation occurred Monday after detainees were spotted passing contraband between cells, according to Bergen County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Keisha McLean, who said a search revealed banned items, including an “incendiary device.” “Detainees were given lawful orders by officers to disperse, at which point the group corralled around officers and refused to lock in,” McLean said in an email. “For the safety of the officers, assistance was requested, a facility lockdown was ordered to provide adequate response to regain order.”

Ontario man busted for smuggling $1 2M worth of weed in 13 oversized duffel bags

Article content Two men, one from Ontario, put little effort into concealing US$1 million ($1.2 million) worth of weed when they tossed 13 oversized duffel bags containing the drug into the back of their vehicle and in plain view for investigating officers. As a result of an earlier investigation, detectives with the Narcotics Task Force of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stopped driver Shawn Porter of Etobicoke and passenger Jeremy Windoloski of Hogansburg, N.Y. on Apr. 27 for suspected drug offences. Porter, 34, and Windoloski, 23, were travelling on Interstate 80 East in Lodi, N.J. when the traffic stop was initiated, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Let s go! Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of SHAWN R. PORTER (DOB: 8/19/86; single; unemployed) of 201-95 Twenty-Fifth Street, Etobicoke, Canada and JEREMY M. WINDOLOSKI (DOB: 6/24/97; single; limo driver) of 478 River Road, Hogansburg, New York on drug offenses. The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti. On April 27, 2021, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor s Office Narcotics Task Force initiated a traffic stop on a Ford Expedition as it was traveling on Interstate 80 East in Lodi, New Jersey. Upon approaching the vehicle, they identified SHAWN R. PORTER as the driver and JEREMY M. WINDOLOSKI as the passenger. When the windows to the vehicle were rolled down, detectives observed the entire rear portion of the vehicle to be filled with thirteen oversized duffle bags.
