MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) - The Berkeley County School District says one of its middle schools was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning.
District spokesperson Katie Tanner said Berkeley Middle School went on lockdown while school administration investigated “a statement overheard by another individual that caused concern.”
“After a full investigation, it was determined that it was safe to lift the lockdown and resume normal schedules,” Tanner said.

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) - The Town of Moncks Corner says they are raising funds to construct an all-inclusive baseball field at the Moncks Corner Regional Recreational Complex.
Moncks Corner Recreation Director Becky Ellison says construction on the field is set to start at the end of 2021, but funding has been coming in slower than expected.
The Town of Moncks Corner has been raising money for about two years, but Ellison says as of February, they have raised $200,000 of the $1.5 million needed to fund the project.

Daniel Island and the surrounding area is a popular destination of this newfound growth. For those unfamiliar with the governmental geography of the Lowcountry, Daniel Island is not a town itself, but rather a master-planned development zoned within the city of Charleston. Adding to the confusion, while Daniel Island and parts of the surrounding areas are part of the city, those areas are not governed by Charleston County. The island and pockets of the Cainhoy area fall under the jurisdiction of the City of Charleston, under Berkeley County and under individual property owners associations and rules.
