A Berkeley County sheriff’s deputy said finding the driver of a truck that crashed into a home killing an elderly woman Monday evening is a top priority. Cpl. Zachary Anaya, who is leading the investigation, said Wednesday on MetroNews “Talkline” the department is following up on several leads. “At this time, I want to use every lead that I can be given to continue to work the case,” Anaya said. “I’m not going to give up on anything. We’ve checked leads all of the way to Hampshire County. I’m a rabid dog in this and I’m going to track it down even if it takes me halfway across the state.”

Authorities looking for vehicle involved in hit and run death

MARTINSBURG — The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information into a vehicle alleged to have struck a Blairton Road home Monday night, killing an occupant, and fleeing the scene. After further investigations by police, including statements from witnesses as well as recovering parts of the suspect vehicle, Sheriff Curtis Keller told The Journal Tuesday night that it was believed to be an early model, 2000s Chevrolet Silverado. He said the vehicle is believed to be white or tan in color. An earlier description also stated the vehicle will have “heavy front end damage” as well as be missing a headlight.

Store employees told deputies the robber stole the cashier till that contained $50.
