OFM investigating suspicious apartment fire in Mitchell

Officials say the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate a suspicious fire in Mitchell.
Two people were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the fire broke out at an apartment on St.David Street just before 9:30 Thursday morning.
Perth County OPP say one of the person’s injuries have been upgraded to life-threatening.
Fire Prevention Officer James Marshall tells
MyStratfordNow.com the blaze happened in a first floor apartment and an OFM investigator will be at the scene on Friday.
He says police will be securing the scene until the OFM investigation has been completed.

They say St.David Street is now reopened from Waterloo Street and Rowland Street.
Two people are in hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a fire in Mitchell.
First responders were called out to an apartment on St.David Street just before 9:30 Thursday morning.
The road is still closed between Waterloo Street and Rowland Street for emergency crews, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Police say the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been consulted, and the Perth County Major Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation.

One person is recovering from serious injuries and a motel just east of Stratford has been completely destroyed by fire.

MyStratfordNow.com the Forest Motel is a complete write off after a fire broke out at it on Tuesday morning.
First responders were called to the motel around 9:30 Tuesday morning and they found the structure fully engulfed in flames on arrival.
Marshall says one person was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and adds the heavy snow falling helped drive the flames through the building’s roof.
KITCHENER A fire at a motel just east of Stratford has left one person seriously hurt. Fire crews reported that they were responding to the fire just before 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, calling it a working structure fire on Forest Road in Perth East. One person taken to local hospital with serious injuries, the post read in part. Crews were at the scene all day Tuesday to battle the blaze. Flames and smoke could be seen billowing from the roof of the Forest Motel when crews arrived. We re still investigating how many rooms were rented, Perth East Fire Chief Bill Hunter said. We do know there was at least one.
