Following regular business, the Pella Police Department will present two different topics to the Pella City Council Tuesday.
A discussion will be held during Policy and Planning regarding UTV/Golf Cart use in the Pella City Limits, and a proposal for a community fundraising project related to a new K-9 unit.
In October, the Pella City Council first discussed regulations related to the use of golf carts on city streets, which is only currently allowed on non-arterial/collector roads, and their use is banned in the Central Business District. Additionally, no part of city code allows UTV use in the corporate limits.

– Council will review guidelines for development near Pella Corporation initially approved in December 2019
3. Design Review District Design Manual Update
– the Community Development Committee is asking council to consider updating the manual to reflect growth in the community

– Council will review a request to push back the closing date on purchasing the property to September 1st
The Pella City Council will review a proposal to amend the City’s purchasing policy at their meeting this evening. A resolution, if approved, would allow the Pella Fire Department to buy a new fire truck through cooperative purchasing, which means organizations band together to bid on products and services competitively to increase purchasing power. The process is not currently allowed under city code, but state laws have changed since the last update in Pella was made in 2012. Council will also consider approving a lease agreement with Liberty Street Kitchen for rental of outdoor dining space, accepting improvements for the Prairie Ridge Sanitary Sewer Lift Station Project, and scheduling a public hearing for a proposed vacation of a public utility easement.
