In the Capital Region, Kelly’s Angels has given out scholarships of $1,500 each to 16 local high school graduates who overcame adversity and demonstrated a commitment to helping others. Kelly’s Angels, founded 11 years ago by WNYT news anchor Mark Mulholland following the death of his wife, Kelly, to cancer in 2007, awards grants and scholarships in Kelly’s memory to help children and families who have tragically lost a family member to cancer or other illness or who have overcome adversity. The charity is administered by Mulholland and the couple’s two children, Connor and McKenna. Last year, Kelly’s Angels presented more than $70,000 in grants to local children and families through fundraisers that include the annual Mother-Lovin’ 5K walk/run on Mother’s Day weekend.
