Experts support PDA urban afforestation plan July 26, 2021 PESHAWAR: An expert panel has met the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) Director-General Ammara Khan about the urban afforestation plan in Peshawar. The KP government has expressed the resolve to mitigate the effects of climate change with urban plantation of millions of shady trees during the monsoon season and the PDA has already initiated many green projects in Peshawar. The experts argued that axing hundreds of historic trees along the Bus Rapid Transit route has contributed to the increased heatwave. They said the concrete and steel infrastructures mega projects invariably contribute to the “heat island effect” in urban areas.

Depleting groundwater level triggers concern in KP July 21, 2021 PESHAWAR: The residents of a sector in Hayatabad faced acute shortage of water when a tube-well stopped working a few days back, prompting them to run from pillar to post to fetch some water for drinking and other purposes. The Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), which is responsible for providing basic amenities to the residents of the township, had to make hectic efforts to ensure timely repair of the tube-well. However, it took four long days to get it repaired. Meanwhile, the PDA struggled to provide potable water to the dwellers of the area. The authority had to press water tanks into service to cater to the needs of the people.

Hayatabad sector going sans water supply July 9, 2021 PESHAWAR: Water scarcity in the F 3/1 sector of Phase-6 of the posh Hayatabad Township has made life miserable for the people while the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) has turned a deaf ear to the issue. The lone tubewell of the area developed some fault about four days back which could not be repaired so far. Alternative arrangements for water supply could also not be made. If one walks through the streets of the sector, he can see people of all ages carrying water-cans in hands and searching for water. The young people turn to the mosque in search of water but return disappointed as water to the mosque is also supplied from the same tube-well which has gone out of order. Thus the mosque also does not have water for the ablution of the people and even for drinking purposes.

Gandhara Valley City feasibility study to take five months - Newspaper

PESHAWAR: Peshawar Development Authority on Sunday informed Local Government Minister Akbar Ayub Khan that the authority would achieve the task of feasibility and planning of Gandhara Valley City in the next five months with all the creative aspects of modern township. Briefing the minister on progress review meeting of the authority, the PDA officials said that the task of feasibility and planning of Gandhara Valley City was divided into several packages and was being handed over to different consultants, according to a statement. Expressing satisfaction over the performance of PDA, Akbar Ayub Khan called for timely and standard completion of all schemes.
