GEORGE TOWN: Three night entertainment operators and their patrons were fined a whopping RM305,000 on the island and in Bukit Mertajam for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP).
They include two entertainment outlets here in Lebuh Pantai and one in Bukit Mertajam, which were slapped with RM25,000 fines, while patrons were fined RM5,000 each.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said the nightspots in Lebuh Pantai were raided at about 1am on Sunday, with 26 patrons fined.
In Bukit Mertajam, Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Shafee Abd Samad said a worker at an entertainment outlet in Icon City and 19 patrons were caught off guard when police raided the premises at 1.15am.
IPOH: Eleven people, including a foreigner, have been arrested during raids at two entertainment outlets in Manjung, about 80km from here.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the 11, who included two women, also tested positive for methamphetamine and were arrested at the first location.
Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the operations were conducted simultaneously at about 8.30pm on Saturday (Jan 9). They were brought back to the Manjung district police station to be tested. They will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, he said in a statement on Sunday (Jan 10). In the second location, we seized 23 plastic packets containing ketamine, 43 Ecstasy pills, 10 Erimin 5 pills and six other packets containing substances believed to be drugs during the raid.
