Posse member and longtime friends of O’Brien, Ty Wivell, and Audie Archer remarked.
“I was shocked when I heard he passed, says Wivell. “He was a good friend, and I could depend on him. I will miss him.”
“He’s just one of those guys you love to have around,” shared Archer. “He loved being with people. He’s done so much for the posse. He did a great job for the posse. Had some great ideas and did some great things.”
The sheriff’s posse oversees putting on the Mother Lode Round-up that includes a parade and a rodeo every year over the Mother’s Day weekend. Wivell recounted that he brought O’Brien into the posse. He noted that when he stepped down from being the General Chairman in 2013, Al stepped in. He held that post for four years. His last year, O’Brien was also given the honor of being named the Grand Marshal of the 61st Annual Mother Lode Round-Up. Jon Stephen Raemore, 75, of Harrisburg, passed away on March 22, 2021 while in the care of Arden Courts of Susquehanna.
Jon was the husband of the late Debra K. (Long) Raemore who passed away May 13, 2014. Jon and Debra lived in the Harrisburg area, on Fishing Creek Valley Road, for more than 30 years.
Born and raised in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Robert E. and Marcella A. (Smith) Raemore. A graduate of Williamsport High School, where he was the senior class president; Jon also participated in varsity sports and later played football on scholarship at George Washington University. He was a graduate of Lycoming College, with a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree, and subsequently worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for more than 30 years in the Department of Environmental Protection.
