BAKERSFIELD, Calif. â Now that Kern County is back in the orange tier, many nighttime businesses and their customers are not just saying TGIF, not only because the weekend is here, but this Friday marked the reopening of some bars that have been closed for months.
Louis Varga and his family have been coming to Temblor Brewing Company almost as long as the establishment has been open. So you can imagine how loyal customers like him feel about finally getting to sit at the bar top once more.
Law librarian who embezzled Law Library Funds pleads no contest

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. â The Kern County District Attorneyâs Office announced today that defendant Annette Heath entered a plea in a multiple count embezzlement of public funds.
On April 15, defendant Annette Heath plead no contest to two counts of Embezzlement of Public Funds and one count of Grand Theft by an Employee.
The terms of the plea include a maximum of one year in custody, a stipulated restitution amount of $64,660, and three years of felony probation.
Between January 1, 2014, and February 28, 2020, Ms. Heath, who was the Law Librarian for the Kern County Law Library, embezzled public funds from the Kern County Law Library. During this time Ms. Heath overpaid herself $42,857 in wages, used $13,935 for personal purchases, and paid $7,867 for rental vehicles for family members, all of which was taken from Kern County Law Library fund
Multiple Tehachapi community organizations to host Earth Day events

TEHACHAPI, Calif. â There will be multiple Earth Day Clean-Up events in the City of Tehachapi from April 19-24.
The events are as follows:
April 19, 9:30 a.m. â 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. â 3 p.m. The Guardians of the Earth volunteer group will host two litter removal events. They are asking for volunteers to meet at the S/W corner of Tehachapi Boulevard and Dennison Road. Trash bags, gloves, picker tools, and safety vests will be provided.
April 23, 10 a.m. â noon, Tehachapi Mountain Group at Coldwell Bankers Best Realty will host a litter removal event. They are asking volunteers to meet at Monolith Street and Tehachapi Boulevard. Trash bags, gloves, picker tools, and safety vests will be provided.

(KERO) â Kern County congressmen Kevin McCarthy and David Valadao, along with other California congress members, are calling on Governor Gavin Newsom to declare a state of emergency as the state faces another drought.
McCarthy, Valadao, and a handful of other California congress members write to Newsom, detailing the ongoing issues the state is battling due to drought conditions.
The letter says, We write to urgently request for you to make a statewide declaration of emergency for the state of California. It is not a secret that we find ourselves yet again with a major drought. It is imperative we do all we can as elected leaders to ensure our constituents, and the communities they live in, have access to the resources they need during this time, namely wat
