Throughout her pregnancy, Amanda Punkett and her husband have taken steps to protect her and their unborn child. We ve been very good about really keeping to ourselves, which has changed the dynamic of what it s like to be pregnant with your first child, she said.

After the baby was delivered, it was surrendered at the hospital through California s Safe Surrender Program.
The next day Oliver was taken home by a foster family.

Monday, Bakersfield assembly member Rudy Salas recognized Perez-Dowling who is the president and CEO of the United Way of Kern County.
She is the first Latina to serve in her role and has been working to reduce homelessness and food insecurity. She has supported free income tax assistance and early childhood literacy programs that have benefited families across the Central Valley.
With Saint Patrick's Day right around the corner, Bakersfield police want to remind everyone to stay safe and sober if they plan to drive for the holiday.
