BAKERSFIELD, CA (KERO) â One woman has died after being hit by a vehicle off Rosedale Highway Thursday night. The Bakersfield Police Department says the victim was crossing Rosedale outside of a crosswalk when she was struck.
The incident took place just before 7 pm near Rosedale Hwy and Verdugo Lane. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with police, and DUI or drugs do not appear to be a factor, according to BPD.
County Officials unveil redesign plans for Heritage Park in East Bakersfield

County officials have revealed the updates that they plan on bringing to Heritage Park in East Bakersfield.
They shared the design on Facebook. Heritage Park is one of five that the county plans on using state grant funding in order to upgrade.
The new plans would include an outdoor amphitheater with a covered stage and a dog park. The Facebook post says they will apply for the funding next month.
Earlier this week the county also unveiled plans for Lamont Park and Mojave East Park.

TEHACHAPI, Calif. â It s no question that small businesses have been hit hard this past year due to the pandemic. But to help the community rebound, the city of Tehachapi is hoping to boost the local economy through a new program.
The small business loyalty program is about neighbors helping neighbors, it starts by spending $100 at any locally owned business, from there shoppers will take that receipt over to the city hall where they will be given a $20 gift card to one of 11 businesses throughout the community, all in hopes of helping those most impacted by the pandemic.

BAKERSFEILD, Calif. (KERO) â Days after a mother of four was shot and killed, relatives called on the community for justice and answers.
Sha Nerva Riley was shot at Wayside Park on Ming Avenue Saturday night. She died at the scene. Just a few days later, Riley s family, along with members of the Wendale Davis Foundation and the Kern County District Attorney s Office gathered at that same spot to honor her memory.
