Ilorin, Jan. 25, 2021 Former members of the Kwara House of Assembly have canvassed for financial autonomy for the state legislature to enable it perform its constitutional function optimally.
The lawmakers, under the aegis of Forum of Former Members of the Kwara House of Assembly, made the call in llorin on Monday in a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting.
The communiqué which was signed by the acting Chairman of the forum, Dr Abraham Ashaolu, and the Secretary, Alhaji lsiaka Magaji, said granting the legislative financial autonomy would allow the lawmakers accomplish their constitutional functions.
“We, hereby call on the governor to respect and effect the Executive Order 10 issued by President Muhammadu Buhari to grant financial autonomy and independence to the state House of Assembly.

The Association of Ebonyi State Indigenes in the Diaspora (AESID) has warned the state government to stop intimidating Judges in the cause of their duties, even as it commended the new Commissioner of Police for being professional.
The Ebonyi indigenes said the agents of state government were trying to manipulate the judiciary into causing trouble in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
In a statement released by its President, Amb. Paschal Oluchukwu, on Sunday in Abuja, said the goal is to continue to cause division in the PDP by having the Nwebonyi group parade as a factional State Exco of the PDP through Suit No: HAB/161/2020 with Roy Umahi as the lead counsel to the Plaintiffs.

My colleague and very good friend, Waziri Adio, has a sense of humour that sometimes borders on the morbid.
