Local 5K will raise money for vaccines across the world

A 5K invites the Somerset community to run and help save lives this July. The Healthy Somerset, Get Together, Stick Together 5K will be on July 10 at Rocky Hollow Park, and it will raise money for UNICEF (United Nations Children s Fund) to help send Covid-19 vaccines globally to poor, underdeveloped countries including Africa and India. It has been spearheaded by four Somerset locals who are dedicated to bringing people together and advocating for the importance of the Covid-19 vaccinations both within their community and across the world. If I ve learned anything during this whole pandemic it is that we are all so deeply connected, and I think that needs to be stated over and over again, said Chris Brannock, who was first inspired for the event. History Walk returns Thursday with new actors, stories

Submitted Submitted Philosopher George Santayana famously said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Of course, sometimes reliving the past can be kind of fun. That’s the spirit behind the History Walk series presented by the Somerset Junior Woman’s Club. The eighth season of History Walk events begins this Thursday, May 20, with local actors portraying notable figures from Pulaski County’s past. Two characters who have been performed before — one not since the first year of the History Walk — join two new characters, as well as several actors likely to participate this season who are fresh faces.

DUNWOODY, Ga. — The Dunwoody Community Garden and Orchard at Brook Run held its annual Spring Plant Sale from April 30 to May 2 at the Brook Run Park greenhouses. DCGO’s harvest yields about 3,000 pounds of leafy green vegetables a year to Malachi’s Storehouse at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Dunwoody. Shoppers browse the herb section at the Dunwoody Community Garden and Orchard’s annual plant sale. Master gardeners were on-site for this year, though, imparting advice and assisting customers with purchases.
