Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a traffic homicide after one person died Tuesday evening in a crash involving three cars in Gainesville.
At about 5:30 p.m., at least one FHP officer arrived at the scene of the crash at 1100 SW Archer Road, FHP spokesperson Lt. Patrick Riordan said.
The number of people involved in the crash is unknown, Riordan said. At least one other person was in critical condition at UF Health Shands Hospital on Tuesday evening.

Two people have died in three hit-and-run crashes this week. None of the drivers involved have been located or arrested by police as of Friday evening.
A 35-year-old Gainesville woman was hit Thursday afternoon by an unknown car at 500 SE Williston Road while crossing the median to the Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail.
