One dead in Jonesville-area crash Thursday afternoon Cindy Swirko, The Gainesville Sun A motorist was killed near Jonesville Thursday afternoon in a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a dump truck, reported the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash was reported about 3:07 p.m. on Southwest 122nd Street  also known as Parker Road and 24th Avenue. FHP’s website indicates at least one of the vehicles was northbound on Parker Road. FHP Lt. Patrick Riordan said the crash happened at the intersection and that the person who died at the scene was not in the dump truck. The gender of the person or additional details about the crash were not available late Thursday afternoon.

As desperation set in, she looked for something to break the driver’s window. “I did cross the road to the median to try to find a rock,” she said. “I found a big piece of wood in the median and I ran back and tried to smash out the window.” It didn’t work. Finally, at about 7 a.m. Sunday, a man pulled over and called the Florida Highway Patrol and an ambulance for her. The situation has shaken her faith in humanity. At the very least people driving by could have called a 911 dispatcher for her, Josey said.
