ROCKPORT Reflecting its commitment to quality patient care, the Vascular Lab at Pen Bay Medical Center has earned reaccreditation in the area of superficial venous treatment and management.
Announced in November, the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) three-year reaccreditation is a widely respected seal of approval that patients can rely when looking for the health care provider to help them with diseases of the vascular system, according to PBMC, in a news release.
The PBMC Vascular Lab offers many noninvasive studies to evaluate and manage arterial and venous diseases including varicose veins, which affects more than half of Americans age 50 and older. Varicose veins occur when the valves in the leg veins no longer function, causing blood to pool. In some cases, this condition progresses to a more serious form of venous disease called chronic venous insufficiency.
