On March 10th a person affiliated with the Seoul police confirmed that they had sought out a warrant requesting an autopsy of
Lee Ji-eun-I. The news follows the death of the nineties-era actress on March 8th. A concerned friend asked police to go to her home when she was not picking up the phone.
Purportedly the police have been at a loss for an exact cause of death.
Lee Ji-eun-I did not leave behind a suicide note, nor were there any signs of physical damage to her body, or any traces of a consumable substance that could have been used to end her life. That the police decided to seek a warrant also suggests that
Birdcage Inn which was an early work of famed director
Kim Ki-duk who died late last year. In it,
Lee Ji-eun-I plays a prostitute who finds new room and board in the coastal city of Pohang.
Lee Ji-eun-I was also the title character in My Dear Keum-hong back in 1995. The highly acclaimed film earned Best new Actress for the actress at both the Blue Dragon Awards as well as the Daejeong Film Awards that year. Most of her other work is not easily available in English as it predates the Korean Wave which allowed South Korean film to emerge as an export market.
Netflix announced this on the 30th. Glitch depicts the story of Hong Ji-hyo, who chases the whereabouts of her boyfriend, who disappears with an unidentified light, approaching the mysterious secret with the help of members of the UFO community.
