STO. NIÑO, Cagayan – The body of a rigger man who accidentally slipped and drowned on a river while working on a bridge project was finally found after 10 days of search and retrieval operations in Baranga Namuccayan here.
Authorities identified the victim as Jesus Bautista, 56, rigger man of Pulsar Construction Co. and a resident of Barangay Caliliauan, Solana, this province.
The local police received a call from Barangay Namuccayan Captain Corazon Morgado that a man’s body was seen on the riverbank in Barangay Namuccayan last July 29.
Police and personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) recovered the victim’s cadaver.

Published July 3, 2021 2:25pm Despite the local government s call for residents in high-risk barangays in Laurel, Batangas to evacuate following the eruption of Taal Volcano, some residents chose to stay put in their homes. The residents staying in three high-risk barangays who refused to evacuate said they are used to the volcano s activities and are thus not alarmed, according to 24 Oras News Alert on Saturday. Others said they were concerned about the possibility of getting COVID-19 at evacuation centers. Still others said they would rather stay home and take care of their farm animals. The local government assured the residents that they are enforcing physical distancing at evacuation centers.
