Ranchi: Trade and business bodies on Wednesday said rising fuel prices are likely to hit various economic activities in Jharkhand in the coming days. It may be noted that petrol was sold at Rs 89.17 per litre while diesel was priced at Rs 87.26 for one litre on Wednesday.
President of Federation of Jharkhand Chambers of Commerce and Industries Pravin Jain Chhabra said, “The rise in fuel prices has directly impacted the cost of transportation of goods, which is eventually being paid by the consumers.”
He said that there are many industries, particularly the mining sector, where excavating machines, drillers, conveyors use fuel as a major input, will face major challenges as their operation will become costlier.
BHUBANESWAR: Bus fares have been increased after hike in diesel price in the country. The fare was also increased on February 9.
Fares of ordinary and express category buses increased by five paise per kilometres while fares of deluxe and AC deluxe buses increased by 10 paise per kilometres. Fare of super premium category buses has been increased by 15 paise per km.
Ordinary buses will charge 85 paise per km as compared to the previous fare of 80 paise per km, while express buses will charge 89 paise per km against its previous rate 84 paise per km.
Similarly, the deluxe and AC deluxe bus fares have been hiked to Rs 1.21 per km and Rs 1.49 per km, respectively. For super premium buses, passengers will have to pay Rs 2.32 per km against the previous rate of Rs 2.17 per km.

The six-hour bandh called by Odisha Congress against frequent fuel price rise and other issues is being observed across the state today, affecting normal life.
Vehicular traffic has been disrupted in many parts of the state including in the capital city as Congress workers have resorted to road blockade at Satsang Vihar Square in Bhubaneswar.
Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded at Cuttack, Balasore, Bhadrak and Sambalpur. Emergency services including ambulance, milk vans, vehicles carrying newspaper and examinees have been exempted from the purview of the bandh. Besides, vehicles draped with flowers for marriages and hearse vans were allowed to ply on roads.
