Nearly 4,000 people bought new cars in Kildare during 2020

Nearly 4,000 new cars were bought in Co Kildare during 2020, according to new figures.
A total of 3,893 vehicles were sold and registered at sales showrooms across the county.
This figure compares to 4,452 vehicles purchased during 2019 which is a decline of -12.56%.
The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) said overall new car registrations for 2020 finished at 88,324 or 25% down on 2019 (117,109).
New Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) registrations in 2020 saw a decrease of 14.2% (21,732) compared to 2019 (25,336). While New Heavy Commercial Vehicle registrations (HGV) saw a decrease of 22.3% (2,066) in comparison to 2019 (2,659).
Imported Used Cars saw 79,969 registrations in 2020 - a decrease of 29.8% on 2019 (113,926).

Laois had 1,180 new cars registered in 2020, according to figures released from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
This represented a drop of 12.07% on the 1,342 cars registered the previous year. Nationally, new car registrations for 2020, finished at 88,324 -25% down on 2019 (117,109).
