Florida residents charged with sex trafficking Alabama teen in Louisiana Updated Mar 16, 2021; Two people have been arrested in connection with a Terrebonne Parish human-trafficking investigation, authorities said. Katrice Yolanda Brown, of Orlando, Fla., is charged with enticing a person into prostitution, human trafficking and racketeering, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said. Orlando resident Michael Ashford turned himself in this afternoon at the Terrebonne Parish jail, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said they were called Monday to a hotel in Houma to investigate a disturbance. They encountered a 19-year-old woman from Alabama along with Brown. Following further investigation, detectives learned the 19-year-old met Ashford on social media and entered into an agreement to have sex in exchange for money to “better her living situation.”

According to Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet, deputies responded to a hotel in reference to a disturbance when they contacted a 19-year-old female from Alabama. Deputies also contacted Katrice Yolanda Brown, 30, who lives in Orlando, Fla. Investigators learned that the teen met a man named Michael Ashford, also of Orlando, on social media. Officials say she entered into an agreement with Ashford to exchange sex for money “in an attempt to better her living situation.”

The incident happened on January 13 at a home in Montegut in the Terrebonne Parish. “According to Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Timothy Soginet [Soignet], Breaux [Beaux] Cormier of Kaplan has been arrested for third-degree rape of a family member, and, as a registered sex offender, likely faces a substantial sentence if convicted,” the outlet said.
