Shooting at New Year s Eve party in Schriever leaves one dead, another injured, authorities say
A 20-year-old was arrested in connection with a shooting that killed a Nicholls State University student and left another seriously injured at a New Year s Eve party in Schriever, authorities said.
Eric Thibodaux, a freshman from Larose, was killed in the shooting, according to an email Nicholls officials sent to students and staff.
Kamron Kajon Jacquot was arrested on warrants for second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff s Office said.
Police and court records show Jacquot had a recent address in Bayou Blue, but authorities said he no longer lived there.

TERREBONNE PARISH, La. Terrebonne Parish deputies have arrested the person responsible for a New Years Eve gathering turning deadly.
Police have arrested 20-year-old Kamron Kajon Jacquot for the January 1 homicide.
According to Sheriff Tim Soignet, officers were called to the 200 block of Jolie Oaks Boulevard in Thibodaux at around 1:40 a.m., for a reported shooting.
Detectives said a fight broke out during a New Years Eve party at the address, a gun was drawn and shots were fired.
Authorities have arrested another suspected gang member in connection with a Terrebonne Parish shooting.
According to Sheriff Tim Soignet, Chad Alex, 20, turned himself in to authorities Wednesday. He is charged with racketeering, criminal street gang activity, aggravated flight from an officer, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of an unidentifiable firearm.
Eleven suspects are now in custody in a parishwide investigation dubbed Operation Silent Night, which was mobilized over the summer to get criminal street gangs off the streets, Soignet said.
One last suspect in the investigation, Travis Mart Jr., 21, remains at large. He is wanted on charges of racketeering, criminal street gang activity and attempted second-degree murder.
Two more suspected gang members arrested in Terrebonne investigation
Two more suspected gang members have been arrested in connection with a Terrebonne Parish shooting investigation, authorities said.
Raymond Celestine, 19, of Schriever, and Daquan Sylvester, 19, of Thibodaux, turned themselves in to authorities Monay, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said. They are both charged with racketeering and obstruction of justice.
Ten suspects have now been charged in a parishwide investigation dubbed Operation Silent Night, which is aimed to get criminal street gangs off the streets, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The investigation was launched following a shooting at a Houma Sonic drive-in that occurred in broad daylight July 19 that killed a 21-year-old Schriever man.
