Subscriber only A sovereign citizen , who was allegedly caught repeatedly driving while disqualified, has had a warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to appear before court. Alistair Heath Larmour, 43, from Upper Main Arm, is facing charges of driving while disqualified and resisting police over an alleged incident on November 8 last year. When he did not front Byron Bay Local Court on Monday he was convicted in his absence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Police will allege Larmour - who was charged with disqualified driving on two prior occasions in October - had to be prised out of his vehicle after they pulled him over in Mullumbimby.

Subscriber only A Northern Rivers man who threatened to harm his children because he was jealous their mother had a new boyfriend has been sentenced for his actions. The man, from the Lismore region, pleaded guilty to stalking or intimidation and using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend when he faced Byron Bay Local Court via video link on Monday. His lawyer, Sophie Dagg, conceded the offences were highly serious . It s not lost on (my client), the gravity of his wording, Ms Dagg said. Ms Dagg told the court her client had hit rock bottom when he texted his former partner, implicitly threatening to drive his vehicle, with their children on board, into an oncoming truck.
Premium Content A Northern NSW man charged over an alleged robbery has been refused bail. Jarrod Steven Skimmings, 36, from Tweed Heads South, faced Byron Bay Local Court via video link from a cell at Tweed Heads Police Station on Monday. Defence solicitor Riley Owen lodged not guilty pleas on Mr Skimmings behalf to charges of robbery and possessing implements to enter or drive a conveyance and committing a Section 114 offence having a previous conviction. Police will allege he robbed Andrew McPherson of his wallet and mobile phone in Tweed Heads South shortly before midnight on January 1 this year. He is further alleged to have possessed a key belonging to a vehicle on January 8.
