Montclair State, Stevens Institute to require students to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Two more New Jersey colleges have announced that students will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in order to attend classes on campus this fall.
Montclair State University in Montclair and Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken made the announcements on Thursday.
Montclair State will require the COVID vaccine for all students who attend undergraduate and graduate classes on campus, whether they are commuter students or students who live on campus. Students who qualify for medical or religious exemptions under New Jersey law will not have to be vaccinated. Students who are enrolled fully in the online degree pogrom will also be exempt

St. Elizabeth, Centenary, Drew and Fairleigh Dickinson universities are opting for “modified in-person graduations with limited guest capacity and other COVID-related restrictions. County College of Morris will take it a step further, essentially handing out diplomas by appointment. After last year s, albeit very successful and well-received, virtual commencement, we wanted to give students the opportunity to once again walk across the stage, said St. Elizabeth spokesperson Denise Panyik-Dale.

Murphy will be joined by state Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli, coronavirus advisor Dr. Eddy Bresnitz and State Police Superintendent Colonel Pat Callahan.
Wednesday’s gathering comes a day after one of the state’s vaccination mega-sites said it welcome walk-ins without an appointment from Wednesday to Friday. Also Tuesday, Princeton University said it will require students to be fully vaccinated before returning to campus this fall. Rutgers University and Fairleigh Dickinson University previously announced vaccination requirements for students.
