Ojai Valley News - BREAKING: Masks strongly recommended to be worn indoors by Ventura County Public Health agency

Published: Monday, 19 July 2021 15:00 The county of Ventura Public Health Agency released a statement Monday, July 19, strongly recommending all community members wear masks indoors to prevent further spread of COVID-19. The recommendation comes as Ventura County Public Health Officer Dr. Robert Levin stated in a press release that some county residents who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 have been hospitalized with the disease.  The recommendation serves as a precautionary measure for those who are fully vaccinated as cases continue to rise locally due to the highly transmissible Delta variant.  According to the Ventura County Public Health press release, people are strongly recommended to wear masks indoors in settings like grocery or retail stores, theaters, and family entertainment centers, despite vaccination status. The mask will serves as an added layer of protection for both themselves and unvaccinated residences. 

Ventura County enters red tier, easing restrictions for businesses

Purple is out. Red is in. Orange may be on the way. Ventura County will enter California s red tier at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, bringing indoor dining, eased COVID-19 restrictions on malls and grocery stores along with opening the door wider for school openings. Officials at a Ventura County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday announced the area has met the recently adjusted standards for the red tier in the state s blueprint for reopening. At the same meeting, officials also said state lab results of COVID-19 samples confirmed seven cases of the U.K. variant of the virus in Ventura County. The variant is more contagious than the original strain and can also trigger more severe illness, said Ventura County Health Officer Dr. Robert Levin.
